This blog entry is going to be about what I usually do on weekdays as a 2nd-Year Undergraduate student.
※This is just what a day looks like from my own perspective, so it does not represent any undergraduate student in a Japanese university.
This is the start of my day.
Usually, I will try to wake up at 7:00 even if I have no classes in the morning. This is because my physical conditions depend heavily on my biological clock. In order to maintain my biological clock, I try to sleep and wake up at regular times every day.
After getting out of my futon, I will start making bento (a really simple one) for my lunch. In my bento, there will be stir-fried vegetables and meat. Sometimes, I include fried eggs in it too when I manage to buy them. Yet, during busy periods like exam weeks, I would just stay in the futon, trying to get all the extra minutes of rest that I can get instead of making bento (*'▽').
After that, I will have my breakfast, which consists of cereals and milo (a kind of chocolate drink).
Recently, I’ve been thinking of cultivating a reading habit, so I decided to try reading a few pages while I have my breakfast instead of watching videos on YouTube or random stuff on Instagram, which is what I usually do.
Then, I will put things that I need to use for the day like my laptop into the bag and go to university.
I live nearby to my university so it takes 10 to 20 minutes to reach if I go by bicycle. However, I have to walk 25 to 40 minutes to university on rainy days.
In the university that I go, the first lecture starts at 8:40 in the morning and every lecture lasts for 90 minutes.
After every lecture, I have 20 minutes to move to the next classroom for the next lecture.
I usually got hungry around 10:00 and have to endure until the second lecture ends...>﹏<
During lunchtime, my classmates and I usually have our lunch in the school cafeteria. In the cafeteria, we spend more time lining up for food than actually eating it because everyone has the same lunchtime and crowded the cafeteria.
As we all know, we get sleepy after having lunch and the same goes for me too. In order to survive through the rest of the day, I have to take a nap which is at least 15 minutes long before the third lecture starts.
Third lecture...
Fourth lecture…. Almost there ~_~
In my cases, the last lecture usually ends around 16:20, while some ends earlier at 14:30 for certain days of the week.
After that, I will either attend my part-time job (once or twice a week) as a helper in one of the research labs in my university or work on assignments and revisions in the library until 18:00.
Then, I will go to SALC, a room in my university where English is the main language instead of the Japanese language.
The main reason I go there is not to practice English conversation but to meet some of my friends. We met and became friends there, so naturally, it became a place where we would gather and chat or play some card games and board games. SALC is one of the rare places in university where I feel relaxed and easy.
I have to leave and head home at 19:00 as that’s the closing time of SALC. I will then prepare and have my dinner at home. However, it is also quite common for me to have my dinner in the cafeteria before going back home.
After that, I will look at my smartphones, or do nothing at all, then go to take a shower.
I then continue to work on assignments and revisions after a refreshing shower. When there’s a lot to work on, I will try to stop around 23:30 and prepare to sleep. On the other hand, I will just relax until 23:30 when the work finishes earlier.
Before crawling into my futon, I will write a new entry into my journal to keep track of my studies, and also to keep a record of unusual events that happened that day.
